The International Youth for Africa [IYA], which is a non-partisan, Non-Governmental Organization as well as a Civil Society Organization [CSO] was founded due to the need for helping the Youth by empowering them in their respective communities in South Sudan. This is done by IYA working to bring different communities together as a way of promoting intercultural dialogue to ensure, peace and reconciliation, which is the best way of respecting and promoting human rights, rule of law, democracy, gender equality, social justice and justice. The interest of the IYA to focus on the promotion of peace, reconciliation, human rights, rule of law, democracy, gender equality, social justice and justice came from the fact that the only way to bring lasting peace in South Sudan is to educate on the importance of peace and also empower them to become ideologically and economically independence, which will help them avoid manipulation by the politicians. Thus, empowering youth economically, politically and socially is vital for the stability of South Sudan. Some of the ways IYA empowers youth is through youth access to information obtained through research, training and policy advocacy and lobbying by young people in South Sudan and Uganda. Since establishment, IYA has gone into partnership with other organizations, institutions and communities at the grassroots as a way of promoting intercultural dialogue that is hoped to result into culture of non-violence, peace and socioeconomic development in South Sudan and Uganda.
IYA’s vision is to offer the primary support and platform for a Youth and Community empowerment by being committed to fighting for the rights of the youth and other vulnerable members of the community as well as individual members to achieve economic, political and social justice.
Our mission is to empower the youths, communities and other vulnerable groups through initiatives that enhance sustainable development and peace in South Sudan. This is done by improving and empowering the youth and other members of the community to have access to resources owned by the state to ensure that the State development is geared towards achieving peaceful and dignified communities where all youths and other vulnerable members of South Sudan and African communities are fully empowered in the process of the development. Our mission is to become a voice of the youth in fighting for their rights to achieve social, political and economic justice.
